Rot Ton Bone

Rot Ton Bone - “Spare the Rot, Spoil the Bone” / ASR026 / 2008 / one-sided c84 edition of 100
Stoney Tusco at his finest, recorded during an "Experimental Pizza" night at the Grog Shop, Cleveland on 5.3.08. This live document rages hard as the Bone devastates the crowd with disgustingly brutal tape loops and voice for 42 minutes until he gets his “whiskey encore”. Half way through things get interesting as Stoney belligerently confronts the crowd, annihilating everything that’s not bolted down. The tape opens with the infamous “Eye of the Tiger” DJ mix by Ryan Kuehn [Hot Air Balloon Ride / Pedalphile]. White screenprint on black photo paper insert, black tape with red spraypaint stencil, clear + black case. Thank you Nathan Bowers and Ben Haehn for help with the screenprinting.

Jerk A Frenetic Menace

Jerk - A Frenetic Menace / Tower Control 005 / 2007 / cd edition of 500
Disbanded Cleveland schitzoid noise rock unit’s final album, recorded by Paul Maccarrone at Zombie Proof.

“This Neubauten/Japanoise-inspired break-shit-and-scream-at-people band achieved transcendence almost right out of the gate a few years ago with inventive arrangements and frighteningly combative live shows. And though white noise is growing into a style so dominant in Midwestern underground music it's already a cliché, Jerk remains well ahead of the pack. The band is firmly committed to making noisy music, rather than "subverting" music with noise. A Frenetic Menace is, for the most part, aptly titled; the chaos of their performances is well represented here on tunes like "Black" and "Gale." But there's ample evidence of progress since 2004's Fuck Action. Lineup changes could explain it — the addition and departure of bassist/spasm enthusiast Eric Hughes and his replacement by ex-Roué pedal-hopper Justin Coulter have obviously left a mark. While Jerk is ultimately a genre band for a small elect that can handle this kind of stuff, it's good to know that in a milieu in which a band can easily get away with doing astonishingly little, someone around here is willing to do the hard work.” - Ron Kretsch, Cleveland Free Times

David Russell Wagon c16

David Russell - Self-Portrait/Dexation / Wagon No.52 / 2008 / c16 edition of 100
David Russell solo jam for Wagon [Emeralds’ tape label]. Side A, "Self-Portrait", is an exploration of self through percussion and voice. John Elliott’s Mom said it sounds like every pot + pan in the kitchen falling down off the highest, longest shelf. Side B, "Dexation", is comprised of 3 multi-tracked pieces banded together with an MS-10 and a little science-fiction. Did I mention John’s Mom also wrote the insert?

"now here is a true stoker. david has been jamming the cleveland underground before most, and this may be his first fully realized and widely documented release under his own name. this tape is pure dada surrealist ??????? "what in the hell is that fucking noise" ????? some more bonkers head anarchy of the highest order. if you had a shelf with everything in the world on it and you pushed one end up and left it to hit your floor, this would be the sound. kling klanging-metal junk-spring popping -uncontained screaming/tortured-soul/spiritual havoc that will leave you flipping this tape over and over. i challenge you to try and count the number of different sounds that happen in the first movement of this cassette alone. short loops covered in total confusion somehow contained and organized in only the way that david's mind could understand. when it came down to brass tacks and i found myself saying "no, really david, how did you record this?" i arrived time and time again at the simple explanation of "i worked very hard on this." i also came to find that i was completely wrong in my assumption that there was 132,978 different overdubs when i was in fact corrected and told there were nearly none. what in the hell is delina thinking with this shit going on the basement when shes upstairs cooking dinner? one of the best releases ever to come out on wagon and a great honor. sold out from hanson almost immediately. full color art on clear tapes with hand watercolored/markered retro syle labels. limited to 100 copies on the nose." - Wagon description
